This design is based on very few architectural principles. Renovation and Restoration. Work with the existing spacial quality.
By enhancing and pointing out the quality of the space within this ensemble the functions are put to aside. To give a hand out to the local community and show municipals what is the quality and potential of the KVL
The KVL complex is a large leather factory in the south of the Netherlands. It is relative easy accessible from either train, bus car or even walking from the town centre.
Local municipalities wanted to destroy the factory complex and replace the area with brand new homes. Many of the locals were against because a this beautiful historical Architectural building was about to be demolished.
At the time of economic crisis there was either no money, or a plan to give purpose to the area. The local community was not really sure what to do with the area either. This is where we came in.
